Sen.TedBudd,R-N.C.,andRep.MaryMiller,R-Ill.,introducedtheStopIllegalAlienCopsAct,abicameralbillaimedatpreventingindividualswhoareintheUnitedStatesillegallyfrompossessingfirearmsorammunitionwhileemployedaslawenforcementofficers.
Thelegislationwouldprohibitillegalimmigrantsworkinginlawenforcementrolesfromreceivingorcarryingfirearmsandammunitionissuedbygovernmententities,suchaslocalpolicedepartments.
“IllegalalienshavenoSecondAmendmentrights,”Buddwroteinastatement.“Itisirresponsibleforpolicedepartmentstoarmillegalalienswhohaveblatantlyignoredourimmigrationlawswithfirearmsandammunition,letaloneonthetaxpayers’dime.
“Federallawalreadyprohibitsthosewhoenterourcountryillegallyfrompossessingfirearms,andit’stimeweensureillegalaliensworkingatlocalpolicedepartmentsareheldtothesamelegalstandard.”
