Fox News Poll: Voters say go slow on AI development — but don’t know who should steer

Fox News poll reveals 80% of voters want careful artificial intelligence development, but Americans remain split on who should regulate AI technology.

AweekafterTimeMagazinenamedthe“ArchitectsofAI”asPersonoftheYear,thelatestFoxNewsnationalsurveyofregisteredvotersfindsbroadsupportforcarefuldevelopmentofartificialintelligence—yetlittleagreementonwhoshouldregulateit. Thepoll,releasedThursday,finds8in10votersfavoracarefulapproachtodevelopingAItomanagepotentialriskstotheU.S.,while2in10preferrapidadvancementtostayaheadofcountrieslikeChina. Althoughmajoritiesacrosstheboardurgecaution,women,Democrats,votersunderage30,liberals,andmomsaremorelikelytosupportaslowerpace,comparedtomen,Republicans,votersages65andabove,conservatives,anddadswhosupportforgingahead.
